Not everyone is a fan of Christmas Pudding which is where these chocolate Christmas Cupcakes decorated to look like Figgy Puddings come in. They are a cute Christmas dessert kids and adults will love.
Why This Recipe Works
- A cute Christmas dessert idea for kids
- An easy Christmas Cupcake with no tricky technical cake-decorating skills needed
- A delicious single-serve alternative to fruit pudding
Ingredients you will need
- chocolate cupcakes
- chocolate buttercream
- cream cheese frosting
- Jaffas or red peanut M&Ms
- spearmint leaves
Ingredient Notes and Substitutes
- Chocolate cupcakes: I use chocolate cupcakes but you could use any flavour vanilla cupcakes recipe or dairy-free cupcake recipe. I used a gluten-free boxed cake mix portioned into cupcake liners.
- Candies: I use sweets to create an edible sprig of holly. Jaffas are a New Zealand candy (candy-coated orange chocolate balls), you need a red ball-shaped candy that will act as the berries of the holly. Red cinnamon candy like red hots would also work. Spearmint leaves are leaf-shaped gummy sweets popular in New Zealand.
I am an ambassador for Countdown supermarket, they support my blog by providing ingredients for recipe creation and testing. I used their free-from-gluten chocolate cake mix to make the chocolate cupcakes for this recipe.
